CLASS PARENT 2016-17

Average time commitment is less than 5 hours per school year

All Class Parents support faculty and staff with student activities, encourage family involvement within school and PTO. Manages a budget of $10 per child per year for class activity.

  • Schedule at least 2 coffees or other informal parent get-together during the school year. First one should be scheduled no later than Sept. 30 the second no later than Jan. 29. These can take place in Seminar Room which can be reserved through Jamie Fencl
  • Encourage all families to attend PTO meetings and events
  • Answer questions, listen to concerns and encourage parents to seek resolution with communication by making an appointment with teacher or Dr. Sass
  • Welcome new families into the class by email or phone call. Don’t forget to introduce them to the other families
  • Keep the Winston Care Chair informed about situations where a family might appreciate support
  • Read the Winston Window, PTO Monthly, Winston Eagle and stay informed in order to answer questions

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade combined (K & A Core) 

  • Coordinate, recruit volunteers for a Halloween, Holiday, Valentine Day and End of Year Parties with the teacher
  • Parties last less then 30 minutes and should include a snack activity (read book, short DVD, craft or game) and a small themed party favor

3rd and 4th Grade combined (B1 & B2 Core) 

  • Coordinate, recruit volunteers for a Halloween, Holiday, Valentine Day and End of Year Parties with the teacher
  • Parties last less then 30 minutes and should include a snack activity (read book, short DVD, craft or game) and a small themed party favor

 5th-6th Grade combined (Upper Elementary, C & D Core) 

  • Coordinate, recruit volunteers for a Halloween, Holiday, Valentine Day and End of Year Parties with the teacher

 7th-8th Grade combined (Middle School) 

  • Coordinate parent donations of snacks for exams and for 1-2 Middle School Dances

 9th-11th Grade combined (Upper School) 

  • Coordinate 1 pizza or other special lunch for students by May1
  • Coordinates the design, printing and distribution of class t-shirts

 12th Grade (Senior Class) 

  • Schedule and coordinate a minimum of 5 Senior Lunches throughout school year (the last lunch should be scheduled In May before quiet week)
